AI Settings

One of the most important setup items for any AI system is called “context”. This forms the initial “training” that all AI language models need to get started. Two of the most important fields to fill in on the AI Settings page are Background and Instructions.

Background details:  This provides the necessary information for the AI assistant to understand what it is meant to know. For example, this would be where you would enter a description of the type of products, services or information that your organisation provides. How customers can get in touch, where you’re located and even your website address. This information is provided to the AI assistant with every user query and along with the instructions to form the basis for the “context”.

Instructions: This is where you tell the assistant how you want it to respond. Provide it with the persona you want it to take on. Provide details of its name, scope, style, any special way questions need to be answered, and so on. If you selected one of the templates other than “blank”, the instructions field would have been pre-populated and all you need to do is fill in the areas that relate to the way you want your assistant to behave.

Query Mode: The query mode changes the way your AI chat assistant interacts with the user and how it searches for answers. In simple terms, the most comprehensive query mode is “Combined” – it will search the knowledge base first and provide a reply then search the tree nodes and return the most relevant node. An even simpler way to select the correct Query mode is as follows: If your assistant only has a knowledge base then select KB Only mode. If your decision tree only has an Introduction Node, use Combined or Tree Only mode; for larger trees that use the knowledge base, choose Combined mode. The other modes are very dependent on how you want the response to be delivered to the user and can be selected based on preference.

AI Model: Select your preferred AI model. Keep in mind that the more advanced “thinking” model will take longer to respond to the user. Select the model that suits your application best.
